‘Letters from Iwo Jima’ wins Golden Globe for Foreign Film


Letters from Iwo Jima,” won the Golden Globe award on Monday for best foreign language film.

The Japanese-language film won the honor over a competitive range of movies that included Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto,” which was made in a Mayan dialect, and Spanish director Pedro Almodovar’s “Volver.”

The Golden Globe awards are given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and are among Hollywood’s top film honors.
